The anti-graft court’s Third Division also issued a hold departure order, barring Revilla and other respondents in the case from leaving the country.
Police officials confirmed that Revilla is currently detained under the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG). CIDG Director Maj. Gen. Robert Alexander Morico II verified the surrender in a message to members of the media.
Prior to his surrender, Revilla released a video statement on social media, saying he had been informed of the arrest order. He questioned the fairness of the process but stated his readiness to confront the charges filed against him.
The former lawmaker insisted that he did not commit any wrongdoing and appealed for public prayers as his family faces what he described as an emotionally painful situation.
According to the Philippine National Police, Revilla arrived at Camp Crame with his immediate family. Authorities promptly enforced the warrant, explained the grounds of his arrest, and informed him of his legal rights.
Revilla was then subjected to standard police procedures, including booking, documentation, and a medical checkup, in compliance with established protocols.
The case originated from an alleged irregularity in the use of public funds for flood control projects, raising renewed attention on government accountability. Court proceedings are expected to determine the responsibility of those involved.
